THE DANCERS
My two biggest passions meet in my first collection of mixed media artworks titled "The Dancers" where charcoal and acrylic paint share the canvas. In 2023 I started practicing with watercolor and I created new dancers in pencil and watercolor also included in the collection.
In the mixed media pieces, a charcoal drawing of a dancer is surrounded by shiny iridescent and metallic background, highlighting the mood of the pose. I wanted to give my dancers characterics that would make them look like magical creatures, as I always defined dancers through my life.
Thanks to the iridescent medium, the painting shows many different shades and levels of brightness, depending on the direction of the light and the angle it has been viewed from.
Drawing and painting were my first passions when I was a kid, then dancing took over my life when I was a teenager. After many breaks from both arts through the years, now in my forties they are both back in my life.
The passion for dance has always affected my life choices and even though I never became a professional dancer like I dreamed, it still made my life special.
I am dedicating this collection to all the dancers I have ever met, danced with and all the dance teachers I have ever learned from in Italy and the US.
FANTASY SEASONS
This collection of acrylic and watercolor artworks features fantasy characters through the seasons, from fairies to gnomes, pumpkins and more.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Completely inspired by the beauty of nature, my photographs bring the outside inside and they are memories of moments lived.
Simple gorgeous treats from Mother Nature, like a bright red leaf noticed while exploring the woods on the Adirondacks in New York, or an intriguing tree on a rainy spring Sunday morning, from a New Jersey park.
I love when I can bring home the original vibe and colors of what captured my attention but lately, I started creating my black and white world.
Black and white photography is probably my favorite, and forever fascinated by it. Adding drama and mystery but also elegance, can make a simple subject, sophisticated and timeless, like tall floating reeds dancing together to the wind, while framing their wetlands.
Most of my photographs in colors have not been edited.
Stefania Caracciolo is a self-taught artist from the Milan area in Italy, who moved to the US about 11 years ago. She started loving drawing at 6, then painting and practicing with charcoal in middle school until the age of 14, when she started dancing, and her focus changed. One year later, the loss of her mother to cancer, and then a binge eating disorder that made her reach almost 200 lbs, affected her dancer dreams and goals but got her eventually to her 20-year career as a fitness professional.
During those years she rarely got back to working on paper or canvas, but she had the most exciting experiences of her life traveling to NYC several times by herself, where she finally got to dance in her dream school and her interest in photography began.
Stefania has been creating now since 2020, using and experimenting with different mediums.
Stefania’s artworks include: nature photography, mixed media (acrylic and charcoal),acrylic and watercolor paintings, pencil drawings.
